2024 World Masters Championships – The USCTA is sponsoring four age-specific teams to represent the US in this year’s World Masters Championships in London, with our senior teams playing for the Cockram Trophy (50+), the Bostwick Cup (60+), the Danby Trophy (70+), and the Munoz Trophy (80+) against Australia, France, and the UK.  Any US players who might be interested in playing in the individual events, which follow the team events, have an April 22 deadline to fill out the individual entry form.  Full details about the individual championships, which will be played at Queen’s Club, are available at the… Read the Full Story >

Van Alen, Clothier, and Limb Cups

The United States will host the Van Alen, Clothier, and Limb Cups (VACL) July 11 -16. The Westwood Country Club will hold the premier international junior tennis team event. The biennial tournaments are comprised of juniors under 26 from the U.K., USA, and Australia and rotate between countries. Each country’s team includes 4-6 players. The U.S. team includes Freddie Bristowe, Erik Barker, Henry Smith, Noah Motz, and Chase Motz. by Jeremy Wintersteen The 100th anniversary of the Bathurst Cup will take place in England at Marylebone Cricket Club (Lord’s) from October 8-15.  An international amateur team competition between France, Australia, England, and the United States, the Bathurst Cup was first contested in 1922 and is played every two years.  It was last hosted by the Racquet Club of Chicago with England taking the Cup. by James Zug First day 6-5, 1-6, 6-4, 2-6 It was an extraordinary first day to the 2022 World Championship. Or rather the twice-postponed 2020 World Championship. We waited exactly 1,597 days from the astonishing third and final day of the 2018 Challenge Round at Queen’s until we all met again on the sunny grounds of Prested Hall for the next Challenge. Over four years and four months—that was a nineteenth-century sort of break between matches. Elliott Philpott traveled to Queen’s Club for the British Juniors and came home as the Under 12 Champion! The lone American entry, Elliott, plays out of Prince’s Court in Washington. The seven participants were divided into two round-robin groups. After some tight matches, Elliott secured a place in the final by winning the most games in his group. After a delay due to some close matches in the U18 division, Elliott squared off against Oratory’s – Albie Tomlinson. In July, Australia is hosting the Van Alen, Clothier, and Limb Cups. These are international team events open to players under the age of 26. The USA will compete against Great Britain in the Van Alen and against Australia for the Clothier Cup. The Limb Cup is G.B. vs. Australia. The tournaments are held every two years and rotate between countries. Team USA won the Van Alen and Clothier Cups in 2019 in Manchester. World Championship Moved to 2022

The International World Championship Committee (IWCC) met and unanimously agreed the 2020 World Challenge will now be held over until September 2022 with the challenger remaining as Camden Riviere.  We have the full support of all sponsors, associated third parties, the 2020 World Championship Committee and the Prested Tennis Club management team.   The match dates will be confirmed and communicated as soon as possible.
