The Racquet Club of Philadelphia hosted a fantastic tournament Friday Feb 4th, Saturday Feb 5th and Sunday Feb 6th. The Greevy and Noll cup were both well attended exciting and competitive events. Local talent persevered in both events with Jon Crowell edging out Andrew Purcell 6/1, 6/4 in the Greevy Cup final and Alex Nagy (playing the best tennis of his young career) taking down Vu Hoang in the Noll cup final 6/2, 6/2. Some other notable play came from Ryan Carey in the Greevy Cup and Jon Noel in the Noll Cup respectively. Carey took down Peter Vogt in the round of 16 (as a heavy underdog) and then pushed Crowell to brink but lost 0/6, 6/5, 6/2 in the semifinal. Noel had a fantastic come from behind win against fellow Philadelphian Bruce Katz and then pulled out a barn burner against Steve Sader 5/6, 6/2,6/2 before losing to Hoang in the semifinal. Over the weekend nine separate squash and tennis featuring over one hundred and twenty competitors were successfully completed and a good time was had by all.
